Comfort Gift Set To Sew | Free Printable Patterns
If you need a gift for Mother’s Day, a friend, or just someone you want to bring comfort to, this set is perfect.
The hot water bottle cover, quilted sleep mask, and rice heating bag will bring warmth and comfort to the recipient.
You can give any of the items individually, bundle all three, or add a few other items to bulk up the gift.

Here are a few items you can buy to add to the gift set to help with comfort and relaxation:
- hot water bottle
- camomile tea
- tea mug or tea pot
- candle
- book or journal
- cozy socks
You can also sew other items to add to the gift set, such as:
- matching scrunchie
- throw blanket
- bath robe
And you can alter the fabric to adapt the gift to the recipient. For example:
- darker plaid to sew a gift for a man
- colourful fabric to sew a gift for a teen
- whimsical fabric to sew a gift for a child
- floral fabric to sew a gift for Mother’s Day
- etc.

To make these items even more gift-worthy, you can add tags. I created some simple ones, which you can download below.
If you only want to print tags for one of the items, you can find individual tags when you click on an item’s “VIEW WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS” button.
To create the tags, I print them on heavier paper, then cut the sheet in half (top/bottom), so I have the sleep mask tag on one half and the hot water bottle cover and rice heating pad tags on the other.
Then I cut the bottom piece in half (left/right) and trim the bottom off the hot water bottle cover tag and the rice heating bag tag.
I wrap the sleep mask’s elastic around the back of the tag, fold the elastic so it tightens around the tag, then use a piece of tape to hold the elastic in place.
To attach the water bottle cover and heating bag tags, I use a hole punch to create two holes on either side of the tag that I can weave a ribbon through.

Hot Water Bottle Cover
This is a simple sewing project that can be sped up by skipping the quilting stitches.
You can also alter what type of batting you use; a thermal batting will help the bottle hold the heat longer while a polyester batting will simply create a soft cushion between the hot water bottle and the skin.
You may choose to skip the batting altogether and use a thicker material such as fleece or sherpa.
Quilted Sleep Mask
Again, you can complete this project more quickly by skipping the quilting stitches, and try different fabrics and batting to adapt the mask to the recipient.
You may choose lighter, breathable materials for someone who tends to get hot while sleeping, or to create a summer sleep mask. Or choose darker fabrics and add an extra layer to create a blackout sleep mask.
Rice Heating Bag
This is the simplest sewing project out of the set and it can be adapted to change the shape and size. This one is designed to be draped over the shoulders, but you could create a size to sit on a lap or under feet to keep them warm.
Another option is to use plain fabric to sew the rice heating bag and then create a cover with a velcro closure on one end or an envelope closure in the middle.
